March 2016 New Beauty Test Tube Subscription Box Review & Giveaway & Coupons

New Beauty Test Tube is a bimonthly beauty subscription box filled with 8 or more deluxe and full-size products with a total value of over $100.  When you subscribe you will also receive a subscription to New Beauty magazine, delivered quarterly.  Because of New Beauty’s heavy focus on skincare and in-office treatments, this box is targeted to more mature women although everyone should care about skincare!

My first look in.

Inside the box are the tube, a powder brush, and information booklet (and all other items are in the tube) .  Since the brush didn’t fit in the tube, I’m excited to see what took up all the space.

The information booklet has details on each item, as well as the reason it was chosen by the editors.

Grande Naturals Brow-FILL Light ($19.95):  A tinted brush-on gel that adheres to the finest hairs, leaving them fuller and more defined.  The light shade is recommended for those who have blonde, light red, brown, and gray hair.  Too bad my hair is too dark for this.

Cailyn Cosmetics 7-in-1 Liquid Gel Liner ($10.00?):  This is a water-resistant, quick dry liquid-gel formula that has a matte finish.  The heat treated brush tip prevents fraying of bristles and allows for smooth and defined precision across any surface.

Cailyn tip: Use less pressure to create a thin and diffused line, while adding more pressure will create a bold defined line. 

Gavee Gold Liquid Gold Peptides (? – full 30 mL is $149):  Super effective brightening serum infused with antioxidants, peptides, and purified liquid gold vital elements that nourish the skin while building collagen.  The packaging for this serum is gorgeous.  I mean, who doesn’t love bling?  I wish I could tell you how great this serum was, but it leaked all over the test tube leaving a dehydrated goo.

it Cosmetics Heavenly Luxe Powder Brush ($48.00):  This was not listed in the information booklet.  I have been looking for a new powder brush, so thank you New Beauty!  This is very soft, and the densely packed bristles do a good job of distributing powder for a flawless finish.

CHI 44 Iron Guard Style & Spray ($6.40):  I love CHI products for when I’m heat styling because they offer protection against the higher temps I have to use on my hair.  This hairspray offers dual benefits – use this as a regular hairspray or on hair before blow outs and ironing.

Board And Batten Calming Lift ($14.00):  A multi-purpose spray that calms and hydrates skin or hair.  I haven’t tried this on my hair as a conditioner.  Honestly, with my texture, I don’t think it would work well.  In spite of the rose water, I used this as a facial mist and liked it a lot.  Surprisingly, the scent dissipated very quickly.  I can’t believe I haven’t seen or used this brand before – they’re located about 45 minutes away from me!

Klorane Make-up  Remove Biodegradable Wipes ($13.00):  Also not in the booklet.  These are a gentler wipe that uses cornflower to help soothe skin.  They work well overall, but there was some difficulty removing waterproof eye make-up completely.

Oral Essentials Mouthwash Whitening Formula ($4.17):  Oral Essentials whitening formula uses Dead Sea Salt, lemon oil, sage oil, and coconut oil to whiten teeth without sensitivity.  This is not something that I would use to freshen my mouth between brushings.  The taste is interesting, to say the least (it’s supposed to be spearmint).  This was much more tolerable when used after I brushed.

The value of the March box was over $115, even without a cost for the Gavee Gold serum (no sample size amount on jar to use for a comparison value).  So, New Beauty did fulfill its promises.  However, the two non-booklet items accounted for a significant chunk of the value.  I’m curious about what other subscribers received as alternates,  since these were actually my faves from the box.  Also, I’m a bit disappointed that I couldn’t use the Brow-FILL; maybe next time NBTT should consider something a little more universally suited.
