Graze is a weekly snack subscription box that delivers either 4 or 8 snacks to your home. Snack possibilities include nuts, dried fruits, chips, flapjacks, dippers, soups and more. There are over 100 different concoctions to choose from! Each portion-controlled serving is the perfect pick-me-up for an afternoon at work or at play.

Graze employs an in-house team of experts to develop their recipes. They regularly source their ingredients from small suppliers dedicated to producing the best, tastiest products around. Graze chefs even tried 29 different varieties of raisins before finding the perfect one for one of their recipes!

While you have the opportunity to specify dietary preferences during the set up process, Graze is not safe for those who suffer from food allergies; all of their products are produced in the same facility. Still, if you’re going gluten-free but don’t have celiac disease, for instance, and you feel comfortable potentially exposing yourself to trace amounts of gluten, this subscription would be ideal for you!

Graze makes it very easy to isolate those snacks that are unsuitable for vegetarians, vegans, those avoiding gluten, dairy and soy. They also make it easy to avoid snacks containing nuts, bananas, chocolate, cranberries, pineapple and raisins. With one click you can throw out both snacks that require a microwave and those that are spicy.

Once you specify generally the categories of snacks you’d like to avoid, you can go to the “Our Food” tab to preview a list of available snacks. Here you can place each snack into one of four categories: trash, try, like and love. Once you do that, Graze’s Darwin algorithm generates a box to send out that is tailor made for you! Or, if you’d prefer, you can specify boxes according to nutritional content, including carb counting, calorie counting, sugar counting and high protein boxes.

Although the set up process is time consuming, it was a lot of fun. It left me really excited to receive my first box in the mail! I wonder what the algorithm will select. I suppose we’ll have to wait and see!

IMG_2596The day has finally arrived! I just received my first box of Graze snacks. It looks like their algorithm sent me miso soup, honey-drizzled cashews, popping corn and oatmeal raisin cookie dippers. These all sound delicious! I think the algorithm works!

IMG_2576First up is miso soup with a side of edamame. This snack requires you to add the miso concentrate to 8 fl. oz. of hot water, mix and enjoy. The edamame is a snack to enjoy on the side. That makes this snack a 2-for-1 deal!

IMG_2604While I liked that this snack was warm and filling, and while I could imagine a scenario where, after a trying day at the office, this would be a comforting and satisfying relief to the day, it was my least favorite snack in this month’s package. While I typically love miso soup, this version just wasn’t delicate enough for me. The dry, crunchy edamame also left something to be desired. I prefer mine freshly steamed.

IMG_2577These honey drizzled cashews were light and crunchy.

They would work well in a salad or added to a larger trail mix. Here, they were a bit one-note. Next time, I’ll add them to some mixed dried fruit and use them to make multiple snacks. Still, they were good. My daughter couldn’t get enough of them.

IMG_2578I loved this berry compote! I would happily eat it all the time.

I liked the cookies as a vehicle for ingesting the berry compote, but as cookies themselves, they were rather dry. They had the texture of shortbread. In contrast, my favorite oatmeal raisin cookies are moist and gooey and contain notes of cinnamon.

IMG_2579Last up was graze’s pop corn. This was delicious! After offering some to my daughter, I realized that I was going to have to eat quickly if I were going to get any at all. We both enjoyed this one very much!

IMG_2598All in all, I had a lot of fun trying out this month’s snack selection based on my initial input into the Darwin algorithm! Overall, the snacks were good, and I look forward to seeing what the algorithm will send next month. In the meantime, I’ll update my preferences: miso soup–try; honey drizzled cashews–like; oatmeal raisin cookies with berry compote–like; popcorn–love.
