Kids’ Candor is a monthly educational bilingual subscription box for children ages 0-4. There are 5 different levels available, each one targeting young children of different ages. My family received the box intended for 1-2 year olds. All content is in both English and Spanish.
When I opened the box, I was astounded at the treasure trove of material it contained! It included a book, a music CD, flash cards, blocks and pages upon pages of documentation. The theme this month was the alphabet.
The first box is the same for all (within your child’s age range). Subsequent boxes will be the monthly box for the identified age group.
A is for Airplane/A es para Avión ($6.95): This bilingual boardbook provides nice illustrations of words beginning with each letter of the alphabet in both English and Spanish.
Maxim Enterprise, Inc. 26 Piece ABC Blocks ($19.99): These classic blocks are the perfect size for little fingers!
While the book and the blocks are produced by other companies, the CD, flashcards and extensive documentation containing ideas and strategies for how to teach the alphabet to young children are unique to Kids’ Candor.
The documentation contained excellent ideas in how to foster learning the alphabet(s) at home. All of the materials for the children helped to make our alphabet learning adventure fun!
Before doing anything else, my kids and I took the CD and put it in our CD player. We enjoyed family music time playing along with the songs on the CD. The CD is produced by Kids’ Candor. All its songs are sung three times: once in English, once in Spanish and once in both languages. My kids loved that they got to hear the catchy tunes multiple times, and I loved how the songs facilitated learning in both languages.
My daughter was intrigued by both the flashcards and the book.She enjoyed looking at them while sitting on my lap.
After our snuggle time, she turned to the blocks. She loved stacking the blocks, knocking them over and throwing them across the room. I’m sure once she’s older, we’ll revisit them again, focusing more on tracing the letters with our fingers and naming the pictures on the brown sides of the blocks, each one representing something that begins with one of the two letters on either side of the block.
My kids and I had a lot of fun learning together with the help of the Kids’ Candor box. I’m thrilled to know that there is such an excellent educational box for young children on the market. It’s an added bonus that its mission is to help foster bilingual education among young children. We cannot wait to see what fun we’ll having practicing our language skills next month with Kids’ Candor!
