DoodleBug Busy Bags is always full of fun and easy seasonal crafts and my kids love it. DoodleBug Busy Bags are fun, easy to complete, and help develop motor skills, creativity, hand-eye coordination, and confidence. This is a kids’ subscription from Kidable Adventures, who also produces the Little Thinker Box . We love this subscription because it’s just fun and the kids adore the holiday/themed and easy to assemble crafts. The instruction sheet tells you what crafts to use the extra supplies on and any tips! New subscribers also receive a nice big red bag to keep everything in too.
Every box comes with the bagged up crafts, any supplies you might need like glue dots and magnets, and a simple instruction sheet. This month’s theme was Thanksgiving! The crafts with little pieces come in individual bags, so they don’t get commingled or have parts lost — and the more complex (relative term) crafts have individual instruction sheets within their bags.
All the contents of the Busy Bag. Even without looking at the inventory sheet, we knew from the colors and shapes that it was a Thanksgiving themed bag!
Making the gourd turkey. I was pleasantly surprised to see a craft like this in the bag. The gourd is synthetic, but it it just like the crafts we’d do in school decades ago.
This was cute enough to put on a the mantle as one of our seasonal decorations.
The Enter with a Thankful Heart Wreath. Our kids had a spirited debate over this project. Our daughter was a stickler on even spacing of all elements. Our son, however, insisted on leaving a gap for the off-center ribbon. So avant-garde.
I for one was thankful that we were working with foam cut-out leaves and acorns, not the frustration and mess of dealing with the real thing.
The Magic Color Leaves were a craft that left a lot of room for lots of creativity.
I loved the way the kids each took a totally different approach to the craft…
Yet they each felt compelled to clear a space out to see the rainbow underneath. This craft, the Cornucopia, didn’t appear on the inventory sheet, but it was clearly the main project. It involved some lacing, which was a good coordination builder and a fun break from gluing an sticking.
I’m not sure what the kids enjoyed more — adding their personal messages, or arranging the fruit and vegetables.
The Give Thanks Magnet was a simple stick-together refrigerator magnet craft. I love the pairing of the pumpkin with the pineapple — it’s simultaneously cute and absurd.
Turkey Beaded Necklace: These are always fun to do — they simple, symmetrical, and can be worn afterward.
“Turkey”: this guy has some fabulous feathers. A glue stick is provided to stick him together, and he has a loop by which he may be hung.
All the crafts in the Busy Bag. Dare I say it was a veritable “bounty” of activities?
If the theme forOctober was Halloween, and November was Thanksgiving, whatever could December be?
This is a fun subscription as always, and my kids really enjoy assembling all the crafts and being able to decorate our house! While not every month is holiday themed, the last 3 months of the year always are. It’s a great subscription to keep around to keep little hands busy.
