It’s been a while! I have been on a shopping and reviewing hiatus because I went to Iceland! It was amazing and everyone should go. If nothing else, you want this photo op – stand on two continents at once!
The country is beautiful – really unusual landscapes, geological features you don’t find just anywhere (fjords! glaciers!), and a… very unique… museum: http://www.phallus.is/en/ (note that this link contains exactly what it looks like)
But now that I am back, it’s time to look at pretty clothes and think about dressing for work again. This month, my stylist listened and sent me some cute tops and a cardigan. ‘Tis the season for layers, so I like where this is going.
Stitch Fix is a personal styling service. Your stylist will send you 5 pieces based on your profile for you to try on at home! There are no coupons for Stitch Fix but if you hit the jackpot and keep everything, you save 25% on your whole fix (read below for details).
Here’s how Stitch Fix works: fill out your style profile! This includes style, budget, what you’re looking for, and you can get as detailed as you want with the notes to your stylist. It really really does help to provide notes to what you’re seeking, and a Pinterest board if you have one! You will be charged a $20 styling fee and shipped five items to try on at home. If you keep anything your styling fee will be applied to your order, but if you don’t, you will pay the $20 fee. This is so worth it. If you keep everything you get a 25% discount, so it pays off to be specific. You will check out and get charged through your Stitch Fix account. Every box includes a set of styling cards with suggestions on how to wear the particular item. There’s usually a dressed up and dressed down version for each piece of clothing.
41Hawthorn Moni Geo print and Camisole Blouse – $58 I had pinned this, so I was very excited to see it in my fix. I love orange, and if I am going to wear a pattern, geometric is the way to go. It did turn out to be sheer, which isn’t usually my thing, so it may end up going back.
But it comes with a camisole, which I think is a good call. I don’t want to have to buy specialized things to wear with certain shirts.
Market & Spruce Corinna Striped Dolman Top $48
This one has a good chance of staying with me. I am a little hesitant about the horizontal stripes, but they aren’t too crazy, the shirt is well in my color comfort zone, and the dolman sleeves make me feel casual and fancy, all at once.
Creative Commune Cerene Cut Out Detail Blouse $54
I love the color of this, but since I am almost always in a cardigan, the detail on the back is going to be hidden and I would basically just be in a pink top. Eh. I have pink tops.
But the fabric was nice quality and did I mention how nice the color is?
Pixley Martina Slub Knit open Cardigan $48
So close! Super soft comfy jersey knit cardigan in black? With pockets!? Yes please!
But the arms were too snug, so it has to go back.
41Hawthorn Lana Lace Detail Blouse – $58
This one is growing on me. I love the blue, though I feel like the contrast between the blue and black is kind of low, so I am still not sure.
If I can keep my bra straps tucked in (I see you little Miss Orange Bra poking out!) this one has potential.
As usual, getting my fix was fun. It’s nice to see things that I wouldn’t necessarily reach for in a store, because, let’s face it, I go to the same sections of the same stores, so my variety is lacking. Looking at the photos, I noticed the bag hanging on my closet door. Brandy’s birthday present has been in there for several months. Sometimes I am the worst bestie ever. Maybe I’ll get that in the mail one of these days. [Brandy: SQUEEEEE!]

hey there, this happened to me as well – they sent you the same shirt in July as Oct (dolma one, just different stripe colors). I emailed them about it and they sent me a fix for free! just a heads up in case they can help you =)
Thanks! I’ll have to look into that! I got a free fix a while back after I had an unsuccessful one, too, which I thought was nice of them.
That one was mine!
Keep the black and blue shirt! It looks so great on you! The strip down the front is really flattering! Plus you can wear it with your lovely new cardigan. Send the sheer one back. It doesn’t lay quite right.
Thanks! I agree – that was the most flattering this time around. I didn’t end up keeping the cardigan, though. Sleeves were too tight. Maybe next Fix!
Iceland and a a kitty picture! I’m the same way about tops. Tops need to be something I can put on without worrying about embarrassing my teenager or wondering what bra to wear.
Not to mention, I tend to buy wild colored bras, just because they fit best, so I can’t get away with them peeking out!
