Let’s Go Camping! Bramble Box is a monthly subscription box sending imaginative play kits to kids every month. You’ll get fun gender neutral play kits around a theme every month that will inspire your kids to creatively explore. Play, role play, and pretend play are all essential to achieving developmental milestones.
The September theme for this box was “Let’s Go Camping” and it included items and ideas for pretend camping play, as well as Forest Ranger role-play. The instructions are either for the caregiver or for an older child that can read, and included tons of fun ideas, including bed-sheet fort-making!
Everything included in the September box! Sometimes there are more props and less crafts, this month was more crafts to create the props and less ready-made props. There’s a cute Welcome to Camp sign that doubles as a fire danger rating scale on the back!
The box included role-play information for Forest Rangers, as well as a Jr. Ranger badge!
There was also a Forest Ranger Field Guide for animal track identification and a fire danger rating scale — it came with the arrow too, but I photographed it with the fishing kit, for some reason.
And the cards provided instructions for the included crafts and extra fun ideas! Really, the kids don’t need much in the way of prompting with Bramble Box. The crafts encourage creative play, and once they start using their imaginations, they don’t want to stop.
Materials for lantern & fire. The tissue paper did double duty for the lantern and a campfire.
Logs and flames are easily assembled, making a roaring fire to roast our dinner! A couple of the corrugated cardboard pieces were also used to make binoculars.
And look, supplies for making and catching our dinner! My daughter had a ton of fun creating this fishing game! Properly spaced, there was enough felt to make two dozen fish.
Mom and dad helped with creating the flames and the kids assembled it all together after learning about Forest Rangers. They trounced around all over with this lantern!
The lantern was a very popular item. When the big kids finally set it down, the baby toddled around with it for awhile, too!
The campfire assembly was pretty easy – you just rolled up the cardboard and stuck them together with the glue dots – and the logs doubled as binoculars too. This was a perfect play accessory for this theme.
We made sure the fire danger was low before setting our campfire ablaze.
My daughter and my husband both worked on the fish together (Daddy helped with the cutting — the mega detail is all my daughter!) and the kids had an excellent time “fishing.” It’s one of their favorite activities!
Then we played catch your dinner and “roasted” our fish over the fire!
This one was such a fun box with really excellent crafts and great roleplay ideas. Bramble Box never looks like much but it’s probably the subscription box my kids get the most play time out of. They get to craft, play, and reuse the materials for their own creative play!
