Brick Loot is a monthly subscription box filled with LEGO-compatible items, bricks, and brick building accessories for LEGO fans. Brick Loot box is filled with 4-8 items that were hand picked by Brick specialists who scour the world for the newest and coolest products for you to collect.
This was our first box. We aren’t sure if the box has ever had any LEGO brand products in it – it’s pretty much all aftermarket and compatible sets, but it was nice to see a full box!
The theme for this one is Rise of the Brickbots!
All the information is supplied on the cards. I was most excited about the light up blocks and the custom minifigs – and my kids were too!
Everything in the box. There was a Rise of the Brickbots sticker, which was fun, and a “Studs” trading card of Parker Krex (box founder). That was a bit odd (he’s 10) but of course “Studs” also refers to the interlocking dimple on a brick.
Liteup Blocks: Small but powerful LEDs provide bright white light to bring your creations to life. These are compatible with LEGO and LEGO-compatible bricks. The two small lighted pieces are perfect for spot-lights, lighthouses, robot eyes, etc.
Light it up with Laser Pegs: Laser Pegs have a full line of bricks, the key feature of which is their translucence and illumination system. They, are also compatible with LEGO and L-C bricks. This large 8-stud brick cast a white light and is great for illuminating clusters of translucent blocks — the lanyard is required to power the block, so this works best with a creation that is carried or can accommodate the power stick internally. If you buy more Laser Pegs you can light them up with this!
Xerk-Bots 5 Pack: Each bot stands a few inches tall and has a different set of combat arms. There are 5 different bots each with a different look.
Each has detailed instructions and is a quick build for even a young builder familiar with LEGOS.
Like countless teams of color-coded robots before them, the XERK-BOTS combine to form a single giant battle bot. Complete instructions for combining the bots are included. I haven’t had a chance to build all of them yet, but I will!
One of the completed XERK-BOTS.
Of course, all the XERK-BOTS are compatible, and you are challenged to combine them into your own unique battle bot creation using the light kit.
Al B. Back Mini Figure: This Brick Loot exclusive is custom-designed to resemble the Terminator. This is pretty awesome! We’ll make sure to grab a closeup when I do the video review.
Ameno-bot Exclusive Brick Loot Build: Brick Loot has recruited a celebrity brick fanatic (Joe Meno of Brick Journal) to design an exclusive build for Brick Loot subscribers. Fairly simple to construct, Ameno-Bot is hopefully the first of many custom builds. Included are all needed pieces and detailed instructions.
This box is great for young (and older) LEGO fans. The builds are pretty simple and may not long hold the interest of long-time builders, but the multiple projects will provide lots of fun for younger builders (I’d say 5-12 years is the target audience). I really liked that nearly everything was a building item, not just LEGO-themed — subscribers can build the projects and then add all the pieces to their existing stock of LEGOs.
