petit vour july 2015 box

Petit Vour is a vegan beauty subscription box. For only $15 per month you receive up to five cruelty-free beauty and grooming samples. I received the shipping notice this afternoon, and it arrived just hours later. Tricksters!

petit vour july 2015 theme

The July Petit Vour theme was Cruelty-Free Summer. This month was a collaboration between Petit Vour and Thoughtfully Magazine, a new quarterly print magazine.

Whoever said natural, thoughtful beauty came with sacrifice? This month’s cruelty-free and vegan collection is full of summery vibes and squeaky clean ingredients, formulated by some of the best in the green beauty biz.

Routine De-Odor Cream ($3.10 US – $3.99 CAD .A full-size jar is $28CAD – about $21.50 USD) We love checking out new natural deodorant products. This one is a full-line with 12 scents. I think 4 of them are vegan, and interestingly enough, the ones with beeswax in them have bees on the lid – so nobody is confused (the ones with birds on the lid do not have birds in them). Made with coconut oil, kaolin clay, baking soda, shea butter, coca butter, calendula-infused olive oil, neem oil, plus patchouli, ylang ylang, sweet orange, cinnamon, and vanilla oils! This is a small sample, but a full tub is 3-6 months use, so this one is 1.2-3.6 weeks use. I had estimated about 5 days on an average-sized armpit. It smells good and I have no idea if it works but I’m willing to try it!

petit vour july 2015 mango butter

Nubian Heritage Mango Butter ($12.99) This is 100% organic shea & mango butter infused with vitamins A, C, and E, and it smells delicious! This has a higher melting point than coconut oil, because it took a little while to melt out and sink into my skin, but it’s totally non greasy and made my skin really soft! And also, again, mango smell!

petit vour july 2015 nail polish

Aila Nail Lacquer in Doolish ($17) This is a super pretty five-free nail polish in “Warm Sunset Coral.” This polish line was developed by Board Certified Podiatric Surgeon Dr. Cary Gannon, and the color has a sweet story about her boyfriend’s daughter – the color represents the love and kindness it takes to let new people in your life. I want to try Mr. Pookies, too!

So pretty, and perfect for summer!

petit vour july 2015 toner

Luxe de Mer Organic Rosewater Toner ($9.75) Subscribers received either this or the Gentle Cleanser. Because it’s rosewater I didn’t expect to like it, but I love it! It’s vegan (of course), gluten-free, no parabens, and no perfumes! I love reading the ingredients list on this one:

Organic Rosewater (Rosa Damascena), Organic Witch Hazel (Hamamelis), Organic Vegetable Glycerine (Glycerol), Vitamin E T-50, Organic Sweet Orange Oil (Citrus Sinensis), Organic Lavender Oil (Lavandula Angustifolia), Organic Eucalyptus Oil (Eucalyptus globulus), Organic Tea Tree Oil (Melaleuca Alternifolia), Organic Peppermint Oil (Mentha Piperita)

This was a very unusual cleaner because it does contain oils, and it left my skin feeling clean but hydrated. This one is a true winner for me!

This box had a value of around $43, which was lower than last month, but still excellent as always. I particularly loved the samples this month – and there were 2 full-sized items. Everything is vegan and cruelty-free, and some of the best of the best! I felt that Petit Vour really delivered on summery vibes and again don’t hesitate to recommend this box if you’re looking for vegan beauty products!

Plus, when you sign up for 6 months, you’ll get a free Harvey Prince Tall Spray in Gardenia or Damask Rose! Use code Gardenia or DamaskRose at checkout!

I wanted to like Petit Vour, however their business raises a red flag for me, and here’s why. They do not listen to their customer’s concerns regarding the billing cycle. I tried numerous times to ask them why they do not allow their customers to choose a different date during the month when payment is deducted from their bank account, and got no answer. They just cancelled my subscription service and wished me well. Not everyone has the same pay schedule where $15 can be deducted on the 1st of each month and not throw a budget off–billing cycles differ. When a company isn’t willing to push the deduction to another date during the month–and mind you I was willing to pay 1 month ahead of schedule if they could change the date each month to the 17th–it really makes you wonder why they won’t budge. For me its a matter of business ethics and principles and shows that the company cares more about themselves then their customer base. As a business owner myself, this worries me. Other subscription box services are the same way–so be wary of who you give your money to, especially if you go unheard with a concern…
