Allure Sample Society from Beauty Bar is a beauty subscription that sends 5 deluxe samples – makeup, skin, hair, accessories, and fragrance. Samples are chosen by Allure magazine editors and Beauty Bar runs the subscription. I suspect that Allure may be moving to a new partner, because subscriptions are currently unavailable. Allure doesn’t seem to know this, and they’ve sent out a now-expired coupon to Beauty Bar (more than once). I tried to tell them about it, and they said to call Beauty Bar, while telling another customer that subscriptions were still on. Get it together Allure! After last month’s appalling edition they need to figure out what they’re doing.
There’s a mini magazine in every box and it’s very editorial – the Allure editors pick every product and give tips on use and why they like it. Or why you might not. April featured a lot of hedging their bets!

Alterna Caviar RepaiRx Multi-Vitamin Heat Protection Spray ($6) I love the lime smell of this product and even though I don’t really heat style my hair all that much (like ever) I’m going to use this just because I love the smell!
John Frieda Luxurious Volume 7 Day Volume in Shower Treatment ($2.25) I received another trial tube of this in another box and I admit I haven’t used it yet, but the Allure editors are raving, so I’m going to need to get on that. Right now I’m using a flax shampoo from Klorane that gives me tons of volume, so I’ll wait until I use that up, then try this. Or both?!
Julep lip gloss in Graceful ($6.40 but…) You can barely get anything out of this. Only the tip of the applicator gets any on it, so I’m not sure how long it will last, but it’s great to have a mini size.
Versace Eros Pour Femme Perfume ($6) Wow, I love this perfume on and I didn’t like it at all when first applied. Even if you hate perfume, it’s a Versace mini! So cute on the vanity.
Laneige Water Sleeping Mask ($7.50) I love sleeping masks because they provide extra moisture and active ingredients on top of your regular nightly treatments! I do forget to use them frequently though, because I don’t like to apply them except right before bed. I’ll stick this one on my night table so I’ll remember!
Avene Thermal Spring Water Spray ($8.39) I love love Avene and this got sprayed immediately and stuck in my desk drawer for a quick pick me up.
This was so much better than last month’s box, by miles! The value was about $36, which was more than decent, plus I got some new to me items as well as favorites. They redeemed themselves this month, but I still don’t know what’s going on with this subscription. Currently subscriptions are not open but some past Allure Sample Society boxes are now available on Amazon, including mystery boxes of samples!

April box was my first one from Allure and it was horrible. I liked a few items, but the samples were way too small. I actually really like this one. There are no items I’m not excited about. I’m kind of the same way with you, I don’t usually style my hair. But with that hair spray I definitely will. Hopefully, all next boxes are gonna be like that.
this box is so back and forth but april was appalling. this one wasn’t a wow box for me, but i liked it!
