Stitch Fix is a personal styling service. Your stylist will send you 5 pieces based on your profile for you to try on at home and hopefully fall in love with. There are no coupons for Stitch Fix but if you hit the jackpot and keep everything, you save 25% on your whole fix (read below for details).

Note from Brandy: My bestie finally caved and has been trying out Stitch Fix. She’s an entire foot taller than me and wears a size 16, which is about a size bigger than Stitch Fix goes (you can check out her previous Gwynnie Bee review), but she thought she’d give it a try. With the additions of petites and maternity sizes to the Stitch Fix service, we are hoping that they’ll soon start accommodating larger sizes. We recommend Gwynnie Bee for plus sizes, and she will be reviewing them more frequently when her travel for work lets up!

I set up a Pinterest board so Stitch Fix could get a good idea of what I like, which is often completely opposite from Brandy.  I pinned a lot of items that were Mad Men inspired.

Here’s how Stitch Fix works: fill out your style profile! This includes style, budget, what you’re looking for, and you can get as detailed as you want with the notes to your stylist. It really really does help to provide notes to what you’re seeking, and a Pinterest board if you have one! You will be charged a $20 styling fee and shipped five items to try on at home. If you keep anything your styling fee will be applied to your order, but if you don’t, you will pay the $20 fee. This is so worth it. If you keep everything you get a 25% discount, so it pays off to be specific. You will check out and get charged through your Stitch Fix account. Every box includes a set of styling cards with suggestions on how to wear the particular item. There’s usually a dressed up and dressed down version for each piece of clothing.

Was tight in the bust (Fred and Ginger were smushed down a bit) but otherwise fit pretty well. Totally impractical for me, though. Linen is way too wrinkly for work travel, though I bet it would feel nice and cool in the summer heat.

I came really close to keeping this. It fit great, material will pack well. It’s a bit more than I would want to pay.  If it were $70 I probably would have kept it. The print is a little loud, but the colors are fun.  My boy said he liked what it did for my chest.

Too sheer, and I don’t like horizontal stripes. A little short, and kind of boxy.Donna Morgan Marlow Printed Dress card

It fit fine, but the sleeves felt boxy and their length was a little awkward, and I didn’t feel like it did much for my figure. Material was good – soft and stretchy.Papermoon Chileno Split Neck Blouse stitch fix

Wasn’t too flattering. I don’t like how sheer it is.  The color is pretty but VERY bright,.  If I wore it, I would definitely tone it down with a cardigan.  I didn’t think it was very flattering on, though.

I am super excited that Stitch Fix has some dresses in size 16. I wish I were more excited about the specific ones I received – I want to encourage them to have more in my size!  Alas, this time around, I was more in the market for tops.  I happen to have bought two dresses on sale a few weeks ago, so my need for dresses is down a bit.  That and I am trying out Marie Kondo’s philosophy of only keeping things that “spark joy.”  Alas, nothing in my fix sparked joy this time around. (Though the idea of the fix is still fun for me – I’ll try again soon!)  I took photos in the dresses (check out my sexxy sandal tan!) but didn’t bother with the shirts.  They were just so “Meh” for me, although the prices on the shirts were excellent.

One more note from Brandy: I’m going to encourage Jen to request a new stylist next time! I’ve received great fixes for XL sizes and I think she could do a little better with someone who understands her size more. I’m also going to have her pin a photo of herself onto her board so they have a better sense of her body type! And yes Jennifer, I noticed your sexxxy tan before you said anything. xoxo My June Stitch Fix review is up now too!

Thanks! I liked them too. But I am definitely in “must love it to buy it” mode. Maybe next time!

Thanks for taking pictures of yourself in the dresses, Jen! This was a fun review. I think the Jade dress looked great on you, but I agree, the price was pretty steep! Looking forward to seeing what you receive next time around!

Oops! Just saw this! I think my notifications are going to spam. I am going to try to be good abut getting pics for future reviews. It helps to see things on real bodies!

Oh I love that Jade dress but too wish it was cheaper. I noticed the tan too but I have a similar one from my rainbows. LOL

My sandal tan is just getting worse! I have been lazy about wearing different shoes. The Jade dress was super comfortable and pack able. And it is in my color scheme for travel (lots of black purple and grey for winter, and some oranges for summer). Alas, I am trying to keep work dresses under $100. And they need to spark joy. 🙂
