We discussed this in the comments of a Loot Crate giveaway last month – with the addition and success of the Marvel Collectors Corp subscription box (Disney owns Marvel), a Disney box was sure to follow!

Starting May 14, we will release the first Disney Park Pack – Trading Edition on the Disney Parks online store. This Online exclusive box of pins includes a limited edition 500 pin that is only available in the Disney Park Pack, as well as two open edition pins guests will receive before they are available in locations at Disney Parks.

“We wanted a way for guests to continue collecting unique Disney pins before or after their Disney vacation,” explained Jeanne Lewis, merchandiser for Disney pins. “I love that the Disney Park Pack will contain a low edition size pin which is something we know guests love collecting. We included two open edition pins to give guests some additional trading power.”

The limited edition pins are part of a series and may include characters from animated features or attractions at Disney Parks. The limited edition pins will also have two embellishments (like pin-on-pin or special fills) making them a great collectible item.

The Disney Park Pack pins will be a mystery each month.

A new Disney Park Pack will be released on the first Thursday of every month. Retail price at introduction is $39.95 and includes shipping. Due to the unique nature of this item, there are no refunds, exchanges or returns.

The release at the Disney Store Online is next week, and we’ll be posting a reminder. Subscribe to our newsletter to make sure you get the notice and other Disney box reminders (this is a box that you must go in and purchase every month – it doesn’t renew automagically). I’m personally excited – we travel to Disney World usually twice a year (!) and this is the first year we’ve bought pins. The kids adore them! I note with great additional personal interest that this is the pin trading edition – there should be more to follow. I have a feeling this one will be impossible to buy with only 500 boxes available.

The last time I went to Disney World (2011) I bought a lanyard with 4 The Nightmare Before Christmas pins, I was not aware of the trading pins program with the staff, I wondered why some of the cast accompanying the costumed characters wore different colored shirts. One of the aspects of the trading program is if a little child asks any cast member to trade a pin they can not say no, nor do they have to accept the pin a little child is offering up for trading. I think it makes waiting in line to meet a character a little more worth it

They always have to accept a pin for trade – Disney supplies their pins. So if you want to trade with cast members buy a bag of the “traders” on ebay. The ones wearing green lanyards only trade with kids.We have taken the kids 5 or 6 times but this year was the first time getting any pins – but not trading yet. Mom has to approve all trades 🙂

Hmm I wish it was something besides pins. I like pins and I have some but I’m not a huge collector but this still looks like so much fun and I can’t imagine getting a Disney box in the mail each month. That would be so exciting.
