Surprise Ride is a monthly activity subscription box for kids. Every month you’ll receive a curated monthly adventure for kids ages 6-11. Activities are a surprise and center around a theme like art, geography, outer space, food, and more! I reviewed Surprise Ride way ever so long ago before they were on Shark Tank and I was happy to review another box!
You’ll get a Surprise Ride guide in your box with the essentials (2 activities), plus all the extras you need for your adventures!
The theme was Green Thumb. Perfect timing! I believe that this box was the June 2014 box. The April box was bees. For April, subscribers molded a Beeswax Candle and grew a Bee-Friendly Sunflower, played with a Fris-BEE and read The Cat in the Hat’s “Show Me the Honey” book, and snacked on Organic Honey Whole Grain Cookies.
Each box has a guide to the month’s theme.
The guide contains fun facts and ideas, and serves as an intro to the actual activities.
Everything in this month’s box. The information card in the bottom left has all the instructions for the two main activities.
Plant Buddy: We can’t wait to see this guy grow some hair! The kids placed wheatgrass seed in a stocking, moistened a soil pellet, filled up, and shaped the plant buddy (dad helped with the nose & ears). This makes growing very silly and fun!
The kids have been using the spritz water to water their buddy faithfully.
Windchime Mosaic: The kids had quite a bit of fun with this one. My son decorated the mosaic with washi and paper first. After removing that they did the mosaic tiles on both sides.
Unfortunately my son also ripped off the hanging loop (he’s 4 and under the recommended age for the box. He of course enjoys participating with his big sister!). Dad will fix it!
This is a solar-powered Dragonfly doo-dad. My daughter got really excited about this and she’s moved it all over experimenting with it.
Plentils Dill & Sour Cream Chips – Every Surprise Ride comes with a snack to munch on while the fun is happening! They’re usually themed, and I thought this plant-based snack was very appropriate (plus allergen and artificial-stuff free!). What a great choice.
Ace Lacewing Bug Detective: Bad Bugs Are My Business
Ace is on the case in this kid favorite. In this story the bugs are the stars!
She found it to be a very engrossing mystery!
Watering the extra wheatgrass seeds!
SurpriseRide is $29.99 per month and for kids aged 6-11. We thought this was a great box – it had great projects and activities, was really fun, and included a great book (each box includes a book). Based on my experience reviewing subscription boxes for kids, the price is right on target, plus you get great items that last beyond the fun of the activities.
