July 2014 Ipsy Glam Bag

This was a pretty good bag! I’m not doing a price breakdown today, but the Befine is $$$. According to my bag twin Jenny, the value of this ipsy bag is $46.90!

bare minerals 5-in-1 BB Advanced Performance Cream Eyeshadow Broad Spectrum SPF 15 – I love this! It’s actually a kind of purpley brown with a bit of shimmer and once it’s dried, it’s set. I never use SPF on my eyelids, but this didn’t bother me!

Pixi Beauty Mini Tinted Brilliance balm in Unique Pink – This is very subtly tinted but the balm stayed put for quite some time! I enjoyed it!

IMG_5928

Befine Food skin care daily moisturizer with SPF 15 – This smells great and is fragrance & paraben free!

IMG_5924

wHet nailpolish in Facetious – What a great blue color! We love blue polish!!

Hang Ten Dark Tanning Oil SPF 8 – Bad ipsy! NO! It’s great that you can maybe use this on your hair, but encouraging tanning/skin cancer isn’t OK in my book. I’m sure many people would be happy to receive this one, but it made me grumpy! At least it wasn’t eye-burning mascara or exploding eyeliner!

Besides the tanning oil it was a great bag with eye, lip, and nail! Plus it had bare minerals in it. I have got my fingers crossed for some Demeter next month!

I canceled after I e-mailed Ipsy about Michelle Phan being the face of the company and encouraging safe sun practices but the bag doesn’t support her viewpoint. I was very disgusted because this is a box that a lot of young girls get that don’t know any better. I emailed them and asked them to post something about proper skin protection on facebook or the website and they said…no! Then promoted the SPF8 product on Ipsy Facebook. Just… disgusted and DONE with them.

I also got these same products. I wasn’t really happy with mine at all. I like the bag itself (it became my new wallet since my old one, also an ipsy bag, was getting pretty worn). I rarely paint my nails and always use quick dry polish when I do. I can’t really use just any random oil or lotion on my skin so I specifically have no skin products in my profile on ipsy (although I DID test both of these and they seem ok so far…I’ve just been using the oil as moisturizer – I DO tan sometimes but I don’t use oil when I do). The eye shadow looks awful on me (it goes on really dark on my skin tone and just isn’t my thing…I use light shimmery eyeshadows) and the balm is to dry and doesn’t show up on my lips. So, yeah, I’m not happy this month with ipsy BUT thats ok. It’s a cheap subscription and some months are misses. Most months I DO get at least one or two products I really like and couldn’t have otherwise afforded to try. *shrug*

I REALLY hope for some Benefit one day. I never get the Benefit products. I’d of loved the mascara. I’m out of mascara and can’t use the store brands (and can’t afford any other brands).

I would have been disappointed to get the tanning oil but the rest of your bag is great!

I got the same eye shadow you did and also think the color’s interesting (at least it wasn’t the nearly invisible one) and the tanning spray (same reaction as you – too much skin cancer in my family for me to use something like that). But then I got the jojoba gel cream, the “they’re real!” mascara (hoping it’s better than that last one), and the Tints & Sass lip & cheek stain, which sounds intriguing.

I know when I saw I was getting that I was upset but then writing my review I was ok with the bag, That oil just really threw me off especially since I’ve had melanoma twice. I did give it to my stepdad and he was happy with it. LOL Too funny that with all the options out there we were twinsies. 🙂

oh my hair chalk would be awesome. I’ve never used it but its one of those things I think I could like.

Great review. I also received the Hang Ten Dark Tanning Spray and thought exactly the same thing. I would never go out without at least a 30 SPF on especially since I live in Southern California.
