January 2014 Barkbox
January 2014 Barkbox

Apparently Daddy and Lindy were enjoying the January Barkbox so much they totally forgot to tell me about it! Barkbox is a subscription box for dog babies and lets them have a fun monthly treat just like you! My dog is a massive 14 pound miniature schnauzer so this is a small box. I can’t wait until she comes back home – I am going to spoil her like crazy!

It’s not really a theme but the card this month has a cute bite about football. Lindy loves attacking a pigskin and she snorts like a crazy wild animal while she does it.

The information card provides details about every item in the box. There were 5 in ours.

Chevron Bear & Rope Toy
Chevron Bear & Rope Toy

Pet Qwerks Chevron Bear(~$7) OMG chevron accessories for my dog! She’s ready for spring now! Plus it has a squeaky!

Harry Barker Rope Toy ($3) made with AZO free dye and is machine washable. Why haven’t I ever washed one of these things? It seriously never occurred to me. Now I feel disgusting. Lindy loves tug.

Note: My husband said he really enjoyed the gender-neutral toys in this box. He’ll carry around my neon pink backpack but sometimes he does love our dog’s accessories to match him instead of her.

Barksters

Barksters Sweet Potato & Beef Krisps ($9) Dad said Lindy loved these fun crunchy treats. She’s a sucker for sweet potatoes.

Alligator Jerky & Ella Says! Chew
Alligator Jerky & Ella Says! Chew

Louisiana Alligator Jerky Treats ($6) This box had two novel proteins – perfect for allergy prone dogs like schnaubabies. I love that these are wheat, corn, and soy free. We do keep Lindy on a pretty strict high quality diet – no fillers, so these were great.

Etta Says Premium 7 inch Chew ($1) This is the second novel protein – a deer chew. I hear it was met with great interest and was quickly disposed of!

My January 2014 Barkbox had a value of about $26. This is a bit less than the monthly price but since you can get this box for $18 per month on a 6 month subscription that would be like throwing your money away! This is a fantastic box for $18. I definitely could not walk out of a pet store with these items for $18! I love that everything is really high quality and that my dog enjoys each item.

You can save $10 on your Barkbox subscription with promo code MS10X1213 though it should pop up automatically when you visit Barkbox to subscribe. You can also check out all my Barkbox reviews if you’d like to see more!

The Alligator Jerky is a winner in my house – my dogs are obsessed with it. My only issue is it is SO STINKY (it probably doesn’t help that I don’t eat red meat/pork so jerky smells are not my thing). They got the little chevron bear last month – if your dog is not gentle, that toy rips VERY quickly. They still carried around the bear, minus stuffing, until this past week.

LOL fortunately it should be all eaten up before Lindy comes home! She “kills” her toys but she is still pretty gentle. As a result she has an entire huge overflowing basket, but we can’t bear to take any of them away from her. Schnauzers get really attached to their stuffies.

My Pug Daisy would go crazy over the little rope toy and the Sweet Potato and Beef Krisps! This is now on my list of boxes to try. Xo, Elif@theboxqueen
